Deprived of skiing areas due to the health crisis, vacationers have turned to other activities, such as snowshoeing or hiking. In winter, as in summer, the mountains are a destination that benefits both body and spirit! We discuss this with Thomas Mudry, manager of ACM Immobilier agency in Les Gets.
What impact for seasonal rentals & mountain vacations?
“The winter season of 2021 started with uncertainty regarding the opening of ski areas. As the majority of our clientele are skiers, the number of cancellations has been significant. This translated to an occupancy rate of -70% during the holiday season. A similar trend is expected for the February vacation. It was necessary to adapt the seasonal rental offer: maintaining the stay with a commercial gesture on the rental price, postponement, cancellation with refund of deposits,” explains Thomas Mudry.
In general, the clientele who maintained their stay is loyal to the Les Gets resort, which has set up structures and programs to allow vacationers to enjoy their stay. “Our clients have even told us that they discovered the mountains from a new angle, without the ‘all ski’ focus, with a more serene atmosphere, closer to nature.”
New animations adapted to health measures
For skiers, the resort has made available two beginner conveyor belts that are open for free at the Plateau des Chavannes.
A varied entertainment program is offered to experience unforgettable moments: introductions to Airboard, Yooner, Human curling, laser game and Fat bike, trapper outings, treasure hunts, creative workshops, and strolls through the streets of Les Gets. Let's not forget the ice rink, which remains one of the most popular activities at the moment!
“The change of pace during the stay of the clientele in Les Gets has highlighted local gastronomy. The products from the Grillet farm distributed by the gourmet grocery store Le Traîneau have tantalized the taste buds of the finest gourmets, as well as the delicious dishes prepared by the ROSSIN catering butcher. It is always possible to enjoy a hot wine at the foot of the snow front sledging slope while watching the children from the Après-ski bar which also offers delicious crepes. All in compliance with health measures.”
An accessible practice for everyone
According to Thomas Mudry, it’s a gentle and fun way to discover the massif and its magnificent snow-covered landscapes. An accessible practice for everyone, regardless of age and physical condition. Nordic skiing, horseback or sleigh rides, ski touring, sledding... It’s a different approach to the mountains, appealing to those who want to see other horizons, to experience that sense of freedom everyone needs.
The mountains, the ideal place for a well-deserved break
If our lungs are thrilled at the thought of breathing the pure air of the heights, it's our whole organism that benefits. Peaks as far as the eye can see, large spaces, natural light... The mountains offer you an extraordinary setting to experience intense sensations, alone, with family, or friends. The mountains seem to be the perfect answer to desires for a break, for a change of scenery.
To each their own mountain!
If there is one place that rhymes with diversity, it’s the French mountains. The crisis we are going through confirms it: despite the closure of ski lifts and places so appreciated for après-ski, everyone discovers new sensations and experiences, other cultural and gastronomic traditions in an exceptional environment.
